This is possibly the first of a weekly post about the sermon(s) at Grace Baptist Church in Cape Coral Florida.

I Corinthians 4:6-13

It was another great Lord's Day yesterday.  God used Pastor Ascol to clearly read and teach on I Corinthians 4:6-13 and used Ken Puls to lead worship by choosing songs that went well with the message.  I won't make this too long.

The Corinthians were struggling with pride, namely, pride in their favorite preacher.  Paul uses a bit of sarcasm and compares the Corinthians with himself (and the other preachers).  He says that the Corinthians are kings and rich, but the apostles are the least of all men.  Like the slaves of the defeated army being paraded down the street to the Colosseum on their way to be murdered.  The Corinthians are held up and honored, the apostles are in disrepute.  The apostles are fools for Christ's sake.

Paul reminded them that they have nothing that was not given to them.  Why are they boasting?

And, of course, we were reminded of the cross and sang The Wonderful Cross.

I am participating in "Sunday Setlists" at TheWorshipCommunity.com, and here is a link.
